Open-Cell vs Closed-Cell Foam: Which Is Right for You?
The actual differences between the two types of polyurethane foam and how you choose the correct option for roof, walls or foundation.

Two Technologies, Two Different Uses
Polyurethane foam applies in two main variants: open and closed cells. Wrong choice can mean either unnecessary costs or insufficient insulation.
Foam with Open Cell
- Lighter structure, large expansion
- Lower cost per square metre
- Ideal for attic space, attic, interior walls
- Allows easy breathing of the structure
Foam with Closed Cell
- High density, structural strength
- Complete barrier against moisture
- Recommended for foundations, basements, exterior
- Upper thermal insulation coefficient per centimeter
How Do You Choose the Right Version?
For areas exposed to moisture (grounds, subsoils, terraces) we recommend closed cell. For attic space, attic and interior walls, the open cell offers an excellent price-quality ratio.
